Platform-Specific Captions

By default, Soku sends the same caption to every selected platform. However, different platforms have different audiences, character limits, and conventions. Platform-specific captions let you customize what each network receives.

Why Use Platform-Specific Captions

  • Character limits vary. X allows only 280 characters, while Facebook supports over 63,000. A single caption rarely works perfectly for both.
  • Tone and style differ. A professional caption for LinkedIn may not suit the casual tone of Threads or TikTok.
  • Hashtag strategies differ. Instagram posts often include many hashtags, while LinkedIn posts typically use fewer.
  • YouTube uses a title and description. You may want to write a short, punchy title for YouTube while using a longer narrative caption elsewhere.

How to Enable Platform-Specific Captions

  1. On the Create Post page, write your main caption in the caption editor.
  2. Toggle on Platform-specific captions (located near the caption editor).
  3. A separate caption field appears for each selected platform.
  4. Each field is pre-filled with your main caption. Edit each one as needed.
  5. Character counters are displayed per platform so you can stay within limits.
When platform-specific captions are enabled, changes to one platform’s caption do not affect the others. Each platform gets exactly what you write in its dedicated field.

Character Limits Reference

Each platform’s character counter turns red when you exceed its limit. You must bring all captions within their respective limits before publishing.

Common Workflow

A typical workflow using platform-specific captions:
  1. Write a detailed caption in the main editor that works well for platforms with generous limits (Facebook, LinkedIn).
  2. Enable platform-specific captions.
  3. Shorten the X caption to fit within 280 characters.
  4. Adjust the Threads caption to fit within 500 characters.
  5. Add extra hashtags to the Instagram caption.
  6. Write a concise YouTube title (100 characters max) and a fuller description.
  7. Review each platform’s preview in the preview panel.

Combining with AI Captions

You can use AI-powered captions to generate a starting caption and then enable platform-specific captions to tailor the result for each network. This gives you a strong base caption that you can quickly adapt.

Disabling Platform-Specific Captions

Toggle off Platform-specific captions to return to a single shared caption. When you disable this feature, your main caption (the one in the primary editor) will be used for all platforms.
Disabling platform-specific captions will discard any per-platform edits you have made. If you want to preserve your work, copy the individual captions before toggling off.
