Credits System
Credits are how Soku tracks usage of AI-powered features like transcription and content generation. Every subscription plan includes a monthly credit allocation, and credits are consumed when you use certain features.
How Credits Work
Think of credits as a simple balance. You start with a set number of credits each month based on your plan, and each AI operation subtracts from that balance.
| Plan | Credits per Month |
|---|
| Starter | 100,000 |
| Pro | 150,000 |
| Agency | 150,000 |
Your credit balance refreshes on your billing renewal date each month. New credits are added to your existing balance — unused credits roll over and do not expire.
What Uses Credits
Currently, the following features consume credits:
| Feature | Credit Cost |
|---|
| AI Transcription | 1 credit per transcription |
The transcription cost is a flat rate. Whether you transcribe a 15-second clip or a 30-minute video, it costs 1 credit.
As Soku adds more AI-powered features, additional credit costs will be documented here. Your plan’s monthly credit allocation is designed to generously cover typical usage.
When You Receive Credits
Credits are granted at three points:
- At signup — You receive an initial credit allocation when you create your account (included with your free trial).
- On subscription purchase — When you subscribe to a paid plan, your plan’s full monthly credits are added to your balance.
- On monthly renewal — Each billing cycle, your plan’s monthly credit allocation is added to your balance.
Checking Your Balance
You can view your current credit balance at any time:
- Go to Settings in your Soku dashboard.
- Your remaining credits are displayed in your account overview.
What Happens When You Run Out
If you attempt to use a credit-consuming feature and your balance is zero, the operation will be blocked and you will see an “Insufficient credits” message.
To continue using AI features, you can:
- Wait for your next renewal — Credits are automatically added on your billing date.
- Upgrade your plan — Higher-tier plans come with more monthly credits.
Running out of credits does not affect your ability to publish posts, schedule content, or use any non-AI features. Only AI-powered operations like transcription are paused until credits are available.
Credits and Plan Changes
When you change plans (upgrade or downgrade), your credit balance is carried over. You will begin receiving the new plan’s monthly credit allocation starting from your next billing renewal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do unused credits expire?
No. Credits roll over from month to month and do not expire as long as your account is active.
Are credits the same as API rate limits?
No. Credits track AI operation usage. API rate limits are separate and control how many API requests you can make per minute. See Rate Limits for details on API rate limits.
Can I buy additional credits?
Currently, additional credit purchases are not available. If you consistently need more credits, consider upgrading to a higher-tier plan.
Do credits transfer if I change plans?
Yes. Your existing credit balance carries over when you change plans.
