Creating a Post

The Create Post page is your starting point for publishing content across all of your connected social media accounts. From a single screen, you can write your caption, choose your platforms, upload media, and publish or schedule your post.

Getting to the Create Post Page

Navigate to /create from the main sidebar or click the Create Post button available throughout the app.

Overview of the Create Post Page

The Create Post page is organized into the following sections:
  1. Content type selector — Choose whether you are creating a Text, Image, or Video post.
  2. Caption input — Write the caption for your post. A live character counter is displayed and enforced per platform.
  3. Media upload area — Upload images or video by dragging and dropping files or browsing your device. Files upload in the background so you can continue working.
  4. Platform picker dropdown — A multi-select dropdown to choose which connected accounts should receive this post.
  5. Mobile preview panel — See a real-time preview of how your post will appear on each selected platform.
  6. TikTok options panel — Appears when TikTok is selected, with TikTok-specific publishing settings.
  7. Separate captions toggle — Enable per-platform caption customization.
  8. Schedule date/time picker — Set a future date and time to publish your post.
  9. Sticky footer — Always visible at the bottom of the page with Publish and Schedule buttons.

Instagram Trial Reels

When you are creating a video post and have Instagram selected as a platform, a Trial Reel toggle appears in the post creation form. Enabling this toggle publishes your Reel as a trial reel. Trial reels are shown to a small audience first instead of all your followers. This lets you test how a video performs before deciding to share it more widely. If the trial reel does well, you can choose to publish it to your full audience from within Instagram. The Trial Reel toggle only appears when:
  • Your content type is set to Video
  • Instagram is selected as one of your target platforms
Trial reels are an Instagram feature. The toggle does not appear for image posts, carousels, or other platforms.

Snapchat

If you have Snapchat connected, you can publish image and video content to Snapchat via Stories, Spotlights, or Saved Stories. Snapchat has its own limits:
  • Spotlight description: 160 characters
  • Saved Story title: 45 characters

What Happens After You Publish

When you publish or schedule a post, Soku groups all of the per-platform posts together under a single submission (identified by a post submission ID). You can track the status of every post from the Post History and Status page in the Posts section. Posts move through the following submission statuses: queued, scheduled, orchestrating, dispatched, or cancelled. Once a post is published, its status is a freeform string reported by the platform. See Post History and Status for full details.
By default, posts published from the Create Post page do not trigger your automation workflows (reposting and repurposing). If you post to a single platform that is configured as a source for an active automation, a Trigger automations toggle will appear. Enable it to have the post processed by your automation workflows after publishing. You can also set enableRepurposing to true via the Posts API.
